Attention all Troop 112 Parents!!!
We are looking for new Merit Badge Counselors to help our boys with their advancement plans. There is no training required. You simply bring your life experience and a passion to help our boys learn and grow with you to the counselor role. You don't need to be an "expert" in any field to be an effective counselor.
Our most urgent needs are with the Eagle Scout required badges. We could really use your help with these right away.
These include:
Citizenship in the Community (anyone can help)
Citizenship in the Nation (anyone can help)
Communications (anyone can help)
Personal Fitness (should have some insight/interest in exercise/fitness/nutrition)
Swimming (anyone can help)
Cycling (should have some cycling/bicycle knowledge)
Emergency Preparedness (anyone can help)
Lifesaving (anyone can help)
First Aid (need to be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED)
There are a total of 125 Merit Badges available in scouting (see list here: http://usscouts.org/
meritbadges.asp). We are interested in your support with any/all of these that you have some knowledge in. The time investment is minimal. The only pre-requisite is that you've taken the 30 minute online Youth Protection Training (YPT) Course prior to working with any of our boys on a badge.
Please contact Mark Vesper at m59vesper@gmail.com or 908-377-0344 to sign up or if you have any questions. We appreciate your support for T112 and our scouts.

Our only summer fundraiser is coming up July 8th and 9th. We are scheduled to collect parking fees for the Music in the Alexandria Township Parks nights. We have the evening concerts which are scheduled to begin at 7 pm, so we will need scouts and parents from about 6 pm to perhaps 7:30 pm, both nights. Please contact Renee Durdan to let her know if you will be helping.
Due to popular demand from many scouts and parents at the picnic, we have made arrangements for a limited number of Troop 112 “Class B” tee shirts and adult polo’s to be available for summer camp. This year’s shirts will look exactly the same as the last issue (but without the magical “52” on the front pocket) Here’s the skinny: New scouts (joined 112 within the last 12 months) will each get 1 tee at no charge. Adult polo style shirts with matching pocket logos will be available for a cost of $20. each. Sizes will be distributed as first come/first served at summer camp as each size supply lasts. Undistributed tee shirts will then be available at $10 each to all 112 scouts. Keep an eye on this website for updates all summer.

The Alexandria First Presbyterian Church is the charter organization for both the Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts of Alexandria Township. The Scout Sunday tradition was started to make people in church aware of Scouting and to allow Scouts to live out parts of what is pledged each week.
This year The Alexandria First Presbyterian church will be celebrating Scout Sunday on February 13th. We invite all our Troop #112 scouts and their families to proudly wear their uniform and join us for this special celebration to be held at the 9am service.
2011 IS OFF AND RUNNING – BE SURE TO CHECK THE CALENDAR FOR ACTIVITY UPDATES
Troop dues for 2011 are now being collected. The Troop Committee has decided to limit dues to $20 per scout (and per adult)andto include a free subscription to Boy’s Life magazine for all scouts. The dues amount charged is less than the troop is paying out to BSA. The difference is being paid from the troop treasury as a reward to the scouts (and parents) for their successful fund-raising efforts in 2010. Great job to all. Make checks payable to “BSA Troop 112” and return to Mr. Wozniewicz.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Please check the calendar for upcoming Eagle project work parties!!
Youth Protection Training mandatory for all T-112 adults effective 12/3/2010
Youth Protection Training (YPT) is a requirement for all “chartered” (registered with the BSA) adults. This important training reflects the commitment BSA has to protect our scouts.
Adults who choose to remain off the charter are encouraged to continue to participate in troop activities whenever possible, but they also will need to successfully complete the YPT course before participation in the next troop activity . Troop policy now requires those “non-chartered” adults to also maintain a valid Youth Protection Certificate for their participation in troop activities. Your course completion certificate can be printed and/or emailed to our training coordinator Mark Vesper (mvesper@grom.com).
YPT training is available online at https://myscouting.scouting.
org/ . The module is simple to follow and takes about 20 minutes to complete. Please be sure to print and save your certificate and get a copy to Mark asap.
Thanks for your cooperation with this important initiative.
